While working on my MFA in Graphic Design, I also explored my love of photography by diving into a couple of Digital Photography courses. They were a lot of fun and I learned a great deal. One of the first things I did in both classes was explore depth of field and motion.
During a hike in March this past year (2025), I came across this old, decaying log from a tree that had fallen ages ago. It was completely covered in moss. Being the middle of March and Spring still many weeks away, I was surprised to encounter such a vibrant green out in the dull grays and browns that March tends to be in New York State. Naturally, this caught my attention and I was soon experimenting with a variety of settings and angles before ending on this one for this study.
