While working on my MFA in Graphic Design, I also explored my love of photography by diving into a couple of Digital Photography courses. They were a lot of fun and I learned a great deal. One of the first things I did in both classes was explore depth of field and motion.
During my first class, which I took during early to mid-Spring in 2023, I found a small creek in Birdseye Hollow Park that I took some shots of, aiming to capture the motion of its flowing water by both freezing that motion with a fast shutter speed and also blurring it for a more dynamic look. I definitely enjoy the blurred look more as it gives a wonderful sense of nature in motion.
The remaining shots below I took as I experiment with this further in March 2025 when I tackled this project again. This time I took shots in the hills around Harris Hill and Tanglewood Nature Center in Elmira, NY, where there are plenty of hiking trails to explore and wander.
