While working on my MFA in Graphic Design, I also explored my love of photography by diving into a couple of Digital Photography courses. They were a lot of fun and I learned a great deal. One of the first things I did in both classes was explore depth of field and motion.

This set of photos I took in my second course. I decided to try something a bit different than my previous attempts, taking some photos that were more subtle in their differences. In this case, I was hiking along a trail near my home and came across this dead and decaying tree stump with plenty of trees behind it. I loved the texture of both the stump and the bark on the trees in the background, so I experimented with different settings to eventually get these two shots. I admit I'm torn which I like better!
