About This Project
As part of my digital photography coursework during my MFA in Graphic Design, I was tasked with taking an environmental self-portrait. That is, I needed to shoot portraiture of myself in an inspired location and setting that told some kind of a story or reflected something unique beyond the typical static portrait shot. Given my love of nature and the outdoors, it was natural that I would go with that as my inspired setting and situation.

For this take on the environmental self-portrait, I spent some time hiking up on Harris Hill through trails owned and maintained by Tanglewood Nature center. My hike took me through the woods at the end of April 2025 where Spring had barely just begun. Even so, the trails were well-kept and I had a lot of fun wander around, exploring, and shooting these self-portraits along the way.
