Fruits of the Finger Lakes - Icon Project
This icon set was created as part of a project for a class on Aesthetics & Technology where I was tasked with generating a series of vector icons using basic shapes with some meaning to me. The stipulation was I had to follow a theme of some kind, and being from upstate New York myself, I thought that the perfect idea was to go with fruits found in this region. For the sake of this project I only needed to create five icons, but I generated these six since I wanted a balance of larger, single-fruits like the pear, apple, and strawberry to go against the bulky, group of fruits with more texture like blueberries, grapes, and raspberries.
The initial icons were actually meant to be in a monochromatic color palette (shown below with some Photoshop sketches) but I didn't want to leave them at just that pastel lilac color. I wanted these icons to show the colors associated with the actual fruits themselves, which is why I decided to make the ones above as my final, personal versions. This was a fun project that was relatively straightforward but still required some thought and planning.
