About This Project
Tasked with creating a phone app UI using Adobe Illustrator, I chose to create a uniquely styled piano app that was both different from a typical piano app but also similar and recognizable as a piano at the same time. With that in mind, I decided on a modern-style, almost DJ sound mixer look for my design that holds an industrial and mechanical feel to it.
The two circular buttons on either side of the interface are meant for scrolling left or right on the keyboard by either tapping or rotating the icons. Above the right-side button is a menu button for users to access various options such as general app settings, tutorials, keyboard zoom, and turning the note names on or off. The center of the dashboard holds buttons for recording, playing, or stopping playback, as well as buttons for a metronome and instrument selection. Finally, on the left of the dash is a volume slider, allowing the user to adjust playback volume independently of the volume on the phone, as well as a button to turn the Sustain on or off.
